I think that also touches partly into the sci-fi nature of it, which doesn't tend to have as strong race/class identities as fantasy games. That, and it just falls into the trap for me of being a game where I can't really make the character I want to play. Making race matter more in Planetfall was theoretically a good thing, but it came at the cost of the "class" mattering significantly less instead. AoWP is a lot more in-depth and detailed game than AoW3, yet I find myself still wanting to play AoW3 more just because I prefer the character options there. The lack of AoW3's specializations don't help either, since that was often the finishing touch to make an idea work and then see how it goes. The techs represent playstyles and the overall formula of planetfall's race+tech is a stronger faction overall, but it doesn't have a distinct identity the way AoW3's class+race system did. But in planetfall, it's all kinda absent. In AoW3 there are a lot of well-known tropes and archetypes you can make, ideas for characters and past games that you can re-envision. If you change settings to pangea without water, you will have even more space. It is about turn 80 now (slowest research) and I see all AI have many colonies too (I use to make AI build lots of colonies) I am playing a similar game (8 players, largest map), I had my own continent with 9 colonies after killing first AI, then I attacked another continent and got 9 colonies after killing second AI and another 8 after killing third AI. Why 8 - 12 players can put on the "largest" map when it is more suitable for 6 only. I like to play long fights and also to give my opponent enough time to develop his full strength because tso better battles arise, but in turn 4 you have in this game, 3 opponents next to you who you have to kill to at least get some space. I was thrilled to hear that more players / NPC can put on one card, but all the more disappointed when I noticed that the cards that were designed for 8 - 12 players are actually only designed for 6 (if you compare that with the previous ones, where the underground and surface had enough space for 8 people) Originally posted by Blobby:For me this is the card size that bothers me in this game.
